Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

My ex-wife did not pay an uninsured medical bill for our daughter's vaccinations. I was summoned 2 years later without any knowledge of any outstanding bill, or collections in my name, w/ attorney fees and interest. How should I proceed with this summons? As, ive been told that in Indiana the Father automatically has to pay for any expenses not paid by mother. This makes sense except for the interest, attorney fees, and court costs the providers attorney is suing for....? $627 has become $1280.00 !! Help?

They can't get you for attorney fees, as they have to have a signed agreement with you to enforce such fees. Call them and see what they'll take if you pay now. Costs you'll lose on, but you may win on the prejudgment interest.

Your liability in Indiana is based on the necessity of the medical care for your children. Take the decree to your attorney, and you may be able to have Mother pay you back for this.

Good luck.
