Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Hello,

If a man beat his son till the adolescent fell into a coma (he woke up three weeks later) what will be the justice penalty of the father ?

Two more things : it was in Indianapolis in 1980 and I found this in the Civil Code of Indiana "Law does not limit right of parent/guardian/custodian to use reasonable corporal punishment when disciplining a child." Is it relevant in this case ?

Thank you for your answers.

1980 takes it beyond the statue of limitations. I don't know what a "justice penalty" is, so I can't answer that for you.
