Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

We hired a lawyer for my husband to adopt my kids. We paid a lawyer 700.00 he mailed us paperwork for my ex to sign off, which he did. Then we hear nothing from the lawyer it's been almost 2 yrs. When he finally called back he states waiting for home study, another 6months nothing. He has now dropped our daughter from the adoption, she is nineteen. He now states we have to contact the poeple for the home study and pay again. I'm not sure were to go from here? Do I pay and just hope that he actually filed something and is going to finish the adoption of our son? Confused

Ask him to show you the petition that was filed and the CCS entry from the court showing you it has been filed. If he can't. that means he hasn't filed anything, and you should pick up your file and get it to another attorney to take care of. You can then also follow up with the advice from Mr. Rodriguez.
