Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Laws Between Two States - California and Indiana

Our divorce was final in Indiana (14 years ago) and I moved to California 4 years ago and retained custody of my son (he' 16). My ex sues me all the time, custody, contempt of court, etc. yet he's not won)each time he does this I have to go back to Indiana, can I change it somehow so that California is the state that would hear any disputes? Also, he constantly violates the agreement by scheduling trips on wrong days, having our son fly ridiculous times, missing more school than necessary. What can I do? I'm in debt to the tune of $15,000 in attorney fees and can no longer afford to fight him. Can I represent myself and my son mentioned emancipation. Is that an option, to give him a say when he goes for visitation to Indiana?

Indiana retains jurisdiction so is is not likely you can move the case to California. Emancipation is for a youngster who is self-supporting. You can represent yourself and are not required to retain an attorney. Why have you not been able to recover attorney's fees if, as you say, your ex has been found in the wrong?
