Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

paternity laws in Indiana

My husband was previously married, a child was born and he always contested paternity. The mother left the state with the child and has now 16 years later returned and left him at our home. We are in the process of testing dna, but need to know our rights if it comes back that he is not the biological father. The boy is 16 now and doesn't believe that my husband is his father either. We have custody legally, and feel as if we are being forced into caring for this child when he never knew. If this tests comes back that he is not his, what can we do?

Re: paternity laws in Indiana

You need to contact an attorney if the DNA comes back showing that he is not the father. I am presuming that there was a finding of paternity in court.

Besides officing in Munster, I am affiliated with the lawfirm of Tony Zirkle in Crown Point in the event that you need an attorney.
