Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Indiana

Engagement Ring

My Ex informed me that he is going to file a small claim against me to get my engagement ring back. Isnt it a promise of intent to marry and if he broke that promise and I can prove it am I entitled to give the ring back. Would I have any chance of winning this case and if so what all do I need to prove. Thank you

Re: Engagement Ring

Your ex-fiance will lose his small claims case. The ring is a gift. Title transferred to you the moment he placed it on your finger. He will be laughed out of court. Unless -- he can prove that you never really intended to marry him, that it was all a sham on your part, to induce him to make gifts to you. I repeat, he will be laughed out of court.
