Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Indiana

my mother passed away Feb of this year, in the mean time she had given me P.O.A. while she was still living I had my sister come to our house to pick up some fur coats and 3 diamond rings and take to her house on a temp. basis my mother came home from the nursing home and asked that the items be returned to the house she did not and has not done it as of yet and stated to our brother that she would not be returning the items, our mother did not have a will when she passed but my question is can I do anything to have items returned even though P.O.A. is no longer in effect,my sister is aware that our mother did not want her to keep these items and other family members also called her for her to return items

Even without a will, you can open an estate. The estate can sue your sister to return those items.
