Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Indiana

I work at a car dealehsip in michigan city indiana. II scratched a truck it was approximately a foot long and left a slight dent. The car was fixed the next day by the dealership. They never said anything to me about paying for it or anything of that nature. About a week and a half later because of my bosses treatment I quit. The end of that week I went in for my last check and they said that I'm not getting it because of the scratch I did. Hiwever there was no word of me paying for anything. Can they hold my check from me?

Your employer is not supposed to deduct the damages directly from your paycheck without going through a legal process to do so. However, if you do owe the money for the damages, reversing the process and going through all of the steps just to get back where you are now doesn't make a lot of sense.

So, if you owed the money and the deduction was for the correct amount, are you any worse off?
