Legal Question in Employment Law in Indiana

Can they fire for that???

My mother is 45 years old. She was working in an environment that was unsafe. A fellow employee's spouse was working there as a contractor. The spouse was being abusive to the wife. Knocking her around, taking her into his office and hitting on her. He also carries a gun on him. My mother went and voiced a concern to the owners and management. As required to do so in the employee handbook. The mgmt. team spoke with the wife (employee) and she denied this occurred and called her a liar. Stated that she couldn't work with my mother anymore for the lies. If my mother contunied to work there she would quit. My mother was fired. Is this just?
