Legal Question in Employment Law in Indiana

ok.... I worked for a trucking company ....while working for them I gave them a two week notice that I needed to be home by a certain date in order to renew my class a cdl license well the company got me home a day late so in order for me to renew it I would have to retake the cdl drivers exam and the closest date I could schedule to take the exam was three weeks away. So I called the company and told them this and well they said that there was no way they could have the truck sitting that long. And no the ttruck was not under a load. that the company said they were sending someone after the truck . well now I have found out that this company is now giving prospective employers a bad referance of that I road side abandoned the truck which is a career killer. My question is with me legally unable to drive this truck until I get the license renewed and they choose to get the truck can the company legally do this and if not what can I do to stop this...

I would suggest a blacklisting claim. The remedies are penal in nature and a demand letter from an attorney is likely, at the very least, to get them to stop bad-mouthing you. Feel free to contact me (317-634-2200) if you would like assistance.
