Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Indiana

No internet provided!!

I rent from an apartment complex that clearly states in the contract that they are to provide internet and cable services. They cut services on July 2nd to switch providers and ''upgrade'' the services. They posted a notice saying that it would be back up and running on July 6th. It is now July 13th and there are still no signs of services. They still don't even know what provider they are going with. I work from home and 90% of my business is done via the internet. We cannot get an outside provider to come out. The complex is the only one who can provide. Not only have I lost a number of jobs and money, I have actually had to REFUND money for delays. These are all things out of my hands and we as residents are being cut off from our work, studies and leisure. We are absolutely helpless!! 95% of the residents are students at a large University. I have had to make daily trips to the library just to check emails. All this and I am still paying the apartment management for nothing!! They keep telling us they don't know when we will have service again. They either don't care and are trying to cut costs or this transition was poorly planned and executed. But we are feeling the negative affects. Are they not in breach of contract?!?!

Re: No internet provided!!

From your description, it sounds as though there is a breach of contract, and perhaps a breach that causes considerable financial loss to many of the residents as well as yourself.

As I cannot be sure without reviewing the contract itself, I would like to review the lease agreement and form and see if I can help you further.

Please reply to my email address, [email protected] and if you like, we can schedule a time to talk further.
