Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Indiana

Negligence in mothers death

My mother passed away after being in the hospital. She was ready to be d/c'd when she fell and broke her arm. We had signed a consent for all for rails to be up to protect her from falling and that was not done. She died several days later due to a perferated bowel and peritinitous. None of the usual protections were adhered to. She was NPO and it was not posted above her bed as it should have been, as well as a Red Dot, risk of falling. I also work at this hospital. Do we have grounds for a lawsuit, and if we file can they fire me?

Thank you

Re: Negligence in mothers death

You have given much information, which does not make sense. You say your mother fractured her arm, but died of peritonitis and sepsis. That is a strange occurrence. Also, does your mother have a surviving spouse? No, you should not be fired for making a claim. I think more information is needed. Mary
