Legal Question in Personal Injury in Indiana

I had an accident in Indiana then moved out of state to Illinois. It was my fault. Before moving, I agreed with the other party that I would pay $500 for damages. I have an email attesting to this. Subsequently I got an invoice from the other party for $1300. Additionally, he had the work done by his father's body shop. My position is that I owe $500. He said he will sue me. Will he sue in Indiana or Illinois? If in Indiana, what if I don't show up? In any case, am I liable for more than $500? Thanks.

He will sue you in Indiana assuming that he lives there, although he could sue you in Illinois. and obtain a judgment for $1300 if you do not show. Without seeing the actual language of the agreement, I cannot provide an opinion concerning your other inquiry.
