Legal Question in Personal Injury in Indiana

battery

a man came to my boyfriends house and was asked to leave repeatedly. he wouldn't leave and started calling him names and threatening to beat him up so my boyfriend hit him. the other man called the police and wants to press charges. i was a witness to the whole thing and was wondering if there was any way my boyfriend could actually face charges for this...on his property...the man was drunk, on drugs and refused to leave the property.
