i was rear ended at a railroad crossing while waiting on train driver told police he just hit me in the back. i have a knee sprain according to er doctor;they offered 500 dollar settlement is this the normal thing for a knee sprain

There is no such thing as a normal settlement amount. In Indiana, an injured person is entitled to compensation for lost wages ( past and reasonably certain to occur in the future, medical bills ( past and reasonably certain to be incurred in the furture) disabilty, disfigurement and pain and suffering. How much is fair, depends on the county and to what extent an injured person is entitled to claim under the factors that I listed.
