Legal Question in Product Liability in Indiana

I returned a necklace that had a diamond piece on it to a retail store and everything was fine and I left the store. The following day they called and said the diamond piece was missing and that I need to return it or they would put the charge back on my credit card. I did not noticed the piece was gone and am not sure what happened to it. Can they put this charge back on my card?

I would contact your credit card company and advise that any charge from that store concerning this transaction should not be approved. They accepted the necklace back and would have to explain why they would accept a necklace back that was missing the stone. In light of bar scans and detailed receipts, I doubt that they can do so.
