Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

We bought a house and 16 ac in rural Indiana two years ago from a widowed lady. Our neighbor bought his house and four acres from the widow's about three years earlier. The widow's son retained 1.5 ac with a one acre pond. Last fall, the neighbor and the widow's son had a dispute over drive in access to the pond. The widow's son paid for a survey of the property and built his own road for access. His survey markers show that our property contains the north shore of the pond including about 10' of water (at very low water level). Is there any chance this north shore and 10' of water on our property give us access to the pond? I would assume we could develop our edge of the pond however we choose? Should we get our own survey? Should we get an attorney to represent us?
