hello i have a large amount of trees on my side of my fence , the man that just bought the property ajoining had a tree service cut back all my trees to the fence,in doing so they cut half the trunk of two split trunk trees.he then told me it was to keep them from hurting his roof,they are not even close to his roof.then he had them go along the front of my property that faces the road and cut back all my heges and trees that aare behind my fence.im disabled and live on a very fixed income,what can i do.

Your neighbor may have rights, depending on the situation to cut back portions of trees which are encroaching upon or over-hanging his property, especially if they are near his roof. He doesn't have a right to do that with respect to growth that does not adjoin his property. If he was wrong, damages would be the value of the trees that were cut, assuming that they were of a valuable type of tree. Take pictures of the cut trees and property line and consult with an attorney to see if you have any recourse.
