Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

My parents promised me land and we started building my garage and driveway etc No paperwork was done because of it being family. The wife and mother get into a fight that will never go away.

Father is fine with doing deed. I paid to have survey done gravel electric water and the building. totaling in the $50000 area. Now mother refuses to sign deed and says going to sell it. Ive tried to work it out with no luck. What can I do to a least recover my investment????

the lawyer answer is not the best or the right one - suing/mechanic's lien. certainly you can find a lawyer in your area to file a lawsuit. HOWEVER, you should not do that! it would do irreparable damage to the family. it doesn't matter which of them is at fault for the fight. there needs to be forgiveness on all sides. both your mom and wife are probably very distraught over the fight and each may be looking for a way out. don't know anything about your family beliefs but WWJD is usually a good place to start. whoever feels wronged needs to walk the talk and forgive the other. if you need to give it time, do so but don't start legalities.

fyi - your mom couldn't sell anyway unless dad signed the deed if it is in both names.

good luck.
