possession of personal property

I have been in possession since my divorce in 1992, of antique furnishings belonging to my ex-husbands family. His eldery great aunt is the collector of these things.

She is currently dealing with cancer

and has requested we (my children and I) return these items.l Is there a ''possession is 9/10ths of the law? I moved from the family home is 2007 and returned to the family almost everything as I was downsizing. Since these items have been in my possession for nearly 20 years, am I obligated by law to return?

Unless there was an intent to gift these to you, you need to return them to her.
