Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

Are real estate verbal agreements enforceable in Indiana?

My daughter has a house and she rented it to a friend on the "verbal" agreement that the friend was going to purchase the home. My daughter asked for the house back and she was told that the verbal agreement would hold up in court. Is this true?

Thank you

There is no simple answer to this question. But generally, an oral agreement for sale of real estate is not enforceable.
