Legal Question in Traffic Law in Indiana

i have 3 tickets in the past year for no car insurance, and 2 for driving while suspended.i am currently suspended for a year until around next october.im a mess, and truly scared of what will happen to me.i have to go to court jan 22 in elkhart.i have a house and two kids age 26 and 29 who live with me.i pretty much support both as my son has lost his job, because of the economy, and my daughter only works part time.i have a real feeling that i will have to do some time for this, most likely on work release.i live in south bend.if i could do the work release there,if i do get work release,i live close to downtown then my kids could see that i do get back and forth to work, but if they send me to goshen, then they will be unable to help me and i have no one else to depend on.and a friend of mine said that elkhart will want to send me to goshen because they will want to keep the money in their county.if this happens then i will surely lose my job.i also pay child support and my checks are currently being garnished on top of all this.i really am in a mess.i can't afford an attorney but giving me any direction to go would be a blessing.i thought about asking the judge for a temporary permit to drive just back and forth to work if i promise to keep insurance on it at all times which will be hard to do only because the reason it lapsed the other times is because of my checks were reduced by 15 % as well as everybody"s from work which came out to be 100 dollars and my child support(100 dollars a week) and my wage garnishment which is 94 dollars a week.the kids help me with the utilities and food.it is truly a struggle.thanks for listening.

You may qualify for a court appointed attorney when you go to court. Consider bringing documentation and a list of your income and expenses and who you support; it sounds like two adult children and at least one or more other minor children. Also bring the names of 2-3 lawyers you've contacted and what they would charge to represent you in order to show that you tried to hire an attorney but can't afford one.
