Legal Question in Traffic Law in Indiana

Mechanics Lein

I have a 2000 Kia Sportage. I am going this Friday and paying it off. I have a past judgement against me for about $55,000.00. I was wondering if they can come and take my car once it is paid off? If they can, can I have my fiance put a mechanics lein on it so they can't take it? Then, if we get married can they take it if he has a mechanics lein on it? Or maybe should I just sign it over to him?

Re: Mechanics Lein

What is your past judgment for? Currently it would probably be best not to have assets in your name. Liens could be placed on them. If you find yourself with a lot of debt, bankruptcy may be something for you to consider.
