Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Indiana

Name change on deed

Hi, you recently answered a question for me concerning a Transfer on Death Deed for the state of Indiana. I want to leave my rental property to my new husband in case of my death. The deed of this home is still in my previous name. Do I need to change this name to my married name first, then do a TOD deed? If so, how do I go about changing my old name on deed first if necessary?

Re: Name change on deed

If I understand you correctly, all you need is a one deed transactions where it will indicate both your new name and your former name.

I see no reason why you need to do two deeds. You definitely need to get an attorney to do this correctly.
