My grandfather passed away two years ago. I had lost contact with the family. He lived in Indiana. I lived in Maryland. He died without a will. I recently found out that the remainder of the family sold the house and did not know how to contact anyone. My father passed away a long time ago and when the papers were filed in court, it did not mention him or myself in them as though we never existed. There was a bonding company involved. Is the bonding company responsible to pay this missapropriations of funds from the estate to me since I am considered an heir? If you need further information, please let me know.

It's possible the personal representative, or his bonding company, could be liable for your share of your grandfather's estate, which would be that amount due your father, assuming you are your father's only child. You will need to gather the documents about the estate, your birth certificate, and your father's birth certificate (if there is a question about your father's status as a child of your grandfather.) Then contact a lawyer in Indiana, preferably near the county where your grandfather lived, to review the possibilities for you. Good luck.
