Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Indiana

My father was in the hospital for almost 5 months. he lived with me for the last 3 years. He came out of a heart transplant blind, so he added my name to the title of his truck a few months back. He passed away last week. Will the truck go into the probate process or revert to me as the co-owner?

sorry about your dad. the truck should not have to be probated. probate is "simply" a lengthy to be avoided court proceeding that was established for a judge to be able to convey title for the dead to the living since a dead person cannot sign. if the particular asset has a joint owner or a designated beneficiary the probate is avoided. the particular license bureaus seem to have their own unique ways of processing titles but they are generally pretty helpful. if you have any questions re probate or estate planning, our firm has 3 real good lawyers in that area: ken wilk, carla pyle and adam sedia. feel free to call them if you have any questions in that regard.
