After Inheritance Getting a Home Refinanced

My mom died June 17th, 2007. Since then my brother, who inherited the home (with all siblings blessings), has not gotten his own mortgage. He's verbally abusive to my sister about the situation. He's insisting my sister, the executor, must get a new homeowners policy, and continue to pay property taxes out of my mom's estate. What is the executor's obligation after one year?

It will depend on what your Mom's will said. You will need to get an attorney to be sure her wishes are fulfilled.

Your question does not really make sense. If your brother inherited the house, then it is his and he need not get any mortgage, and the estate should not be paying for insurance, upkeep, or taxes.

If the will did not give your brother the house but the siblings are just letting him live there, then the estate must pay the mortgage and insurance, but it can charge your brother rent.
