inheritance tax

my mother's brother lived with her in illinois for the last year of his life. he owned a residence in indiana which has gone to probate in indiana. is the amount of tax owed affected by the fact that he resided in illinois for over a year before he died?

Just because property goes to probate does not necessarily mean that there will be estate taxes due.

You (or the person handling your family's matters) needs to review the situation with an attorney to see what rights you have.
