how to adopt a step dauter

i married a woman who already has a daugther. how can we transfer my surename to her. other say, through adoptation. what are the steps in adopting a child? what are the basic requirements. do I need to spend much money? please help

You can request the records in the school etc. to be changed just by showing your marriage certificate. If you want to be doubly assured announce the change of name in two newspapers. The children do not have to be adopted.
