How long after an auto accident does a person have to file a personal injury lawsuit?

Assuming the accident occurred in Iowa the general statute of limitations is two years. Across the Missouri River in Nebraska it is four years. There are some exceptions and nuances applicable to certain instances, but one should always adopt the conservative approach and file with in the statutory time limits. Failure to do so will bar the claim regardless of it's merits.
