Legal Question in Administrative Law in Iowa

I live in a mobile home. Over the weekend it was broken into. Rather than conduct an investigation or come back during the day to review the scene of the crime. The police just stated "well, you live in a trailer. What did you expect?" It came straight from (unknown to me at the time) straight from the Chief of police "Just so you know, there's a good chance your items won't be recovered." Three other mobile homes in the same park have been broken into. 1 the same time as mine and 2 later. Still the cops are "oh, well. It's just a trailer."
My question: why is it that those of us who live in mobile homes are held accountable to the full extent of the law, yet when a crime is committed against us, it gets blown off? Aren't we just as entitled to the same rights of protection that those of our neighbors who live in fixed structures are?

That's a rhetorical question I do not have the answer to. Perhaps you should be expressing your concerns to the County Attorney.
