Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Iowa

My husband and I filed bankruptcy back in 2004 due to medical debt. After filing in 2005 we ended up back in the same financial situation. My husband was diagnosed with kidney renal failure due to diabetes in 2005. We had no, medical coverage. I made calls trying to get help but since then were unable to get the help needed. After the medical treatments were started they needed to continue. We received numerous medical bills on behalf of this treatment. Tried to make payment arrangements but the hospital wouldn't work with us. They then turned it over to a collection agency that did the same thing. They turned it over to a lawyer and now we have a huge judgment that we don't have the money for. Not to mention we've been renting for ten years and want to find a place of our own and can't due to all this medical debt. We've had some advise us that we should refile again even though we don't want to. But don't know what to do... This debt is well over 40,000 what would you do if you were in our situation.

I'm at my friends house using her email address so, if you get a chance I'll check in with her from time to time to see if there's a message for me. Thanks for your time...

What I would do is not really what your question is about. As I understand it you still have a couple years before you can take bankruptcy again. I suggest you call a bankruptcy attorney and discuss your situation with them. I do not practice in the field.
