Legal Question in Business Law in Iowa

I have recently created an LLC in Iowa for my new business under the business name. While inputing the paperwork for registration I have adopted a trade name that is shorter then the business name. I am not wanting to use this trade name for the logo/website url ext. while keeping the name as it is. I have filed for the fictitious name per iowa reglations with the sec of states office. But this gives me no legal right over said trade name. At what point would I be required/should I get the trade name trade marked? Due to the cost of trade marking a name or logo is another option to start another llc under the trade name with the main owner the original llc so the trade name belongs to the company and is legally able to use said name without issues?

You're overly complicating your life with hot and cold running LLCs. Starting another LLC will do nothing to protect your trademark. There are too many moving parts in this scenario to give you a good idea of what you can expect.
