Legal Question in Consumer Law in Iowa

WRONG DATES ON AN AGREEMENT WITH A FREELANCE WRITER:

I have signed Contract/Agreement with a freelance writer (mainly to own full copyrights) for my LLC startup to write 5 essays (my themes/subjects his creative writing.) He completed and was paid by me for 4 essays.

Now I have realized that the dates/period of the Contract/Agreement, I wrote and we signed, is wrong and just the 1st essay is covered and the other essays (including 3 essays already paid for) are outside our signed Agreement period (I can't use without owning full copyright.)

What can be done if he agrees to change the dates?

OR if he does not agree to change the dates?

Thanks much,

B.B.

Somebody can sue somebody if somebody else didn't do what they were supposed to do. If you did the drafting of the agreement and let it pass the other somebody can argue you knew about it and let it pass anyway. If the person does not agree you can always not use their stuff and hire another writer. I think you ought to both agree to hire and use the services of a mediator and see if you can resolve this mess. It'll be much cheaper than litigation.
