Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
when there is a pre sentence investigation is that where the committee is investigating the trial. if not what is the pre sentencing investigation ? My father was to be sentenced on july 20 and now the department of corrections asked for a extension to sentence on sept 2...thanks for your help

An investigator for the DOC compiles a report after interviewing witnesses and the offender's background. That becomes part of the sentencing package that the court looks at.
