Legal Question in DUI Law in Iowa

DUI conviction

About 4 years ago I was arrested for DUI. I had no prior arrests or tickets. I was in a parking garage after having walked to a football game. I had made plans to stay the night because I knew I would be drinking. I noticed a parking spot up one level that was close to the elevators. I moved my car to the open spot and noticed that officers were arresting someone for vandalism. As I got out of my car, a University of Iowa Officer asked me if I'd seen this man vandalizing cars. It was then that he smelled the beer on my breath. I went through all of the hoops that law required. I've been reading about, in certain cases, of records being ''expunged'' or ''cleared''. What are Iowa laws in that regard, and am I eligible?

Re: DUI conviction

Unfortunately we have no provision for expungement of records in Iowa. You may have been offered a deferred judgment at the time but that's the only thing that comes close. You can petition the Governor's office for a pardon but that's about it.
