Legal Question in Education Law in Iowa

We are having issues with the school and the officers working with the school. Yesterday my son was detained in a juvenile center because a girl in school, which we already had a runin with earlier, claimed that my son headbutted her. My son, James, told them this was an accident yet they did not believe him. They sent him to the juvenile center and did not call us to tell us anything had happened until he called us from the juvenile center. The earlier incident with this girl was when she claimed that James had cut her with a made weapon and talked to an officer. They took my 16 year old son into a room with the officer and asked him questions and took a written statement from him without even calling us. I was later called at work and told that my son HAD stabbed a girl at school and they would be in contact with me. Never did they tell me that James claimed he did not do it. The officer on the phone told me that James broker a pair of scissors and cut the girl. It was later proven through video footage that James was not even on the same floor with this girl during the time this happened. This girl fabricated the entire story and was handled horribly. Now they are believing this girl again and detaining my son without contacting me again. Can this school and officers keep harassing my son over claims from this girl without contacting us first, especially for written statements.
