Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Child support

If a court order has placed for child support, is there any way that this can be temporarily stopped if the paying parent is unable to pay due to imprisonment? The parent responsible for paying the support does not want to dismiss responsibility for this debt, but just wants to continue payment after the period of incarceration is over.

Re: Child support

If a person is incarcerated they will need to file a request for modification of the support order with the court setting out the circumstances under which the modification is requested. I think imprisonment would fit the definition of a substantial change in circumstances necessary to modify a support order.
