Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

I am divorced, I have a divorced decree specifying that my son's dad is responsible for 1/2 of all medical bills after I pay the first $400.00. Our son passed away at the age of 18, this past September. His father still paid child support up to his death per our divorce decree. He refuses to help with any bills, medical or funeral expenses related to his death. What are my legal options?

If those matters are addressed in your custody and support decree, so much the better. If they are not, you can try and sue him. That's about the extent of it. Your son was legally speaking an adult, unless he was in college and there was a post secondary support order in place. I doubt that a lawsuit could yield you anything of value.
