Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Iowa

I answered an ad for a motorcycle from a motivated seller who lives about 1 hour distant. I confirmed an appointment time, and the seller agreed to protect my travel time several times--it was clear--so I would not arrive and find the motorcycle sold. I arrived at the time agreed, after advising the seller of my progress by phone several times, including 10 minuntes before arrival, only to find the vehicle had been hastily sold and was being quickly carried off in those last 10 minutes. The seller offered nothing more than an "Oh, well, it happens." What are my rights to either void or challenge the sale, and/or recover my travel costs being the seller verbally guaranteed my appointment more than once.

Unfortunately the days of lawyers getting involved in cases like this one where there is so little in controversy have passed along with calls for tort reform. Many potential clients wish to argue there are too many "frivolous" cases and they vote to pass laws taking away their own rights. This is one of those cases. Best of luck to you; you're out gas, time and I doubt you'll find any lawyer willing to engage his/her own time, energy and money to take on such a case.
