Legal Question in Insurance Law in Iowa

reinbursement for hearing aides

I was injured in an accident of falling off of my roof. Due to this accident, I lost all hearing for a short time.

My hearing has returned, but I still have a hearing loss of 80% in my right ear and 75% in my left ear. The hearing specialist and the audiologist said I can not teach with this loss. My insurance company refuses to pay, because hearing aides aren't covered. My homeowners said it would have paid if I fell of someone else's roof, but it won't pay since it is my own. The cost of the hearing aides is $4,600. I have to have them to continue teaching. Is there any other avenue I can legally pursue to gain assistance in paying for these hearing aides. Since it was due to an accident, I am struggling with having to pay for these out of my own pocket.

Re: reinbursement for hearing aides

Something doesn't sound right. What kind of policy

said they don't pay for hearing aids? And was the

homeowner's denial on your medical payments coverage?

Don't you have medical insurance of some kind?

Hearing aids should be covered in this kind of

circumstance since it appears to be for a medical

condition you now have which you did not have

before.

And what were you doing on the roof in the first

place? Were you using some tool up there? How did

you fall - from a ladder, did you trip, was there

an obstruction on the roof, etc?

Please call me if you want to discuss this.
