Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa

I had an accident at work the other day. I drive a double pallet jack. I was trying to get down an aisle and accidently pinned someone between a cart and some racking. I made and incident report immediately. The person was not hurt. The supervisor had him fill out an injury report and he was able to finish working. Two days later I was handed a paper saying that I was being suspended for 3 days and after my supension I would be restricted from using equipment for 30 days and then have to go through retraining. The incident happened on 4/23/2012 and I was given a paper on 4/25/2012. My supension is 5/1/2012 to 5/3/2012. I am able to use the equipment up until the time they chose I would serve my suspension and then after I return I am suspose to wait 30 days before using equipment. By law can they have me wait just over a week to suspend me or restrict me from equipment? I live in the state of Iowa and thought they had to restrict me from equipment immediately and I thought the suspension should take place immediately.

I don't think you have much of an argument there. There's no law that says they've got to suspend you at any given time.
