Legal Question in Employment Law in Iowa

Hi,

My adult son has Tourette's syndrome and recently was fired from his janitorial job because he has a social phobia and would hide out in the back room until most of the employees cleared out. After they did, he would proceed with his cleaning duties. He also was habitually late but they seemed to let him get away with it since he punched in and out on a time clock.

He has been denied unemployment twice now and I was wondering, is it worth it to appeal it for the third time. I thought if his psychiatrist would come to the hearing, maybe he would have a chance. He did not tell his employer about his disability before he was hired because he thought he would not get the job.

He lives with his grandmother who is dying of cancer and he may end up homeless soon unless one of his friends will let him move in with them. Any suggestions?

Sincerely,

Stressed out and at the end of my rope,

Mom

You can appeal again, but it's an uphill battle.
