father refuse responsiblity, unwed

im american living in venice. my babys father is italian. he is refusing responsibility and i want to know the italy law for such matters if i want to pursue child support.the father is refusing to sign the birth certificate and i would also like to be informed of paternity test matters and where i can find this info in print in english

No rights for you and your baby if the father refuses to recognize your baby and sign the certificate of birth. In this case you've to ask to the judge ("Tribunale per i minorenni") to recognize that your baby is really the son of your past partner, by DNA test also, in case.
