Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kansas

my girlfriend called the police on herself stating that she had threatened me and my friend but she didnt she had a knife in her hand but never once came at me or my friend instead she dropped the knife and ran. they found her and arrested her for criminal threat. she really didnt do anything wrong and i am not sure whats going to happen to her or what could happen to her, we live in the state of kansas and they told me that she was going to be charged with a level 9 person felony

These types of cases are very fact dependent. Your girlfriend really needs to consult with an attorney that can have access to more of the facts than you are able to provide here. This case coudl result in her having a felony conviction, or in he getting some mental health treatment. It sounds like the latter is what is called for here. Her call to the Police was reaaly a call for help. Perhaps you can help her get it.

A level 9 person felony in Kansas carries the possibility of jail time and a fine. Whether someone is eligible or not for probation depends to a large extent on their prior record.
