Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Kansas

Theft, Lost Mislaid Property Charges

If I have been written up for theft, lost, mislaid property charges can the officer call the party the information he found on and tell them to come in the following day and file a report so he can press and convict me of these charges he has just written me up for? When I explained the reason I had the personal information on hand was for the purchase of savings bond for a minor so I needed the minor and the mothers name, ssn, and date of birth.

Of course he can. How else is the owner going to know that his property has been found or that the police have a suspect?

The fact that you offered an innocent explanation does not mean the police have to believe you. They obviously don't.
