Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kansas

I am 18 years old and currently visiting Kansas. I am being accused of 2 counts of shoplifting with a minor. I need to go back home because I won't have a place to live after August 27th. I've had 2 bond hearings already, and my first appearance is set for September 7th. Can a lawyer appear in court for me? What do I do? Thanks.

If you have been allowed to post a bond, then an atttorneh will probalby be able to appear for you, Often it is up to the judge. If you do nto have an extensive criminal background, it is likely that you may be able to enter into a plea agreemnet, if you do not want to return to Kansas for a trial. It is probably bes tthat you consult direclty with an attorney long before August 27th. You may not hire the first attorney you talk to. That attorney will need time to look into the specific facts of your case, to see if you need to be at the next hearing. If you need a referral, pleas let me know what city or county your case is in.

Good luck
