how do you keep a checking account of a deceased medicaid recipient open to pay outstanding debts?

Prior to death, the Medicaid recipient can add someone else on the account. After death, the decedent obviously can't sign anymore checks. As for paying debts, you will need to consult directly with a probate practice attorney in your area. There are too many unknown facts to advise you in your options.
