Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

divorce long term financial impact

My wife is unfaithful. I have 2 sons ages 14 & 17. I make only $40,000-$42,000/yr. I here the judge here usually awards maint. to the female. I don't know if I can afford a divorce, even if I keep the boys, let alone if I pay child support. How can I find out what to expect so I know if I can survive financially with a divorce? can you help me find out?

Child support guidelines for the State of Kansas are published by the Supreme Court and are online at the Supreme Court website. Your gross income and that of your wife are needed to make an estimate. I suggest that you contact an attorney experienced in Divorce to evaluate your situation. The attorney can help you predict how much, if any, maintenance would be awarded in your situation and for how long. A local attorney will be able to advise you as to how the District Court judge would probably handle your situation.
