Legal Question in Family Law in Kansas

What does Kansas law say about whose last name a baby takes when the parents are not married? I am a single woman who is pregnant with triplets and I really want the babies to take my last name. Do I have the right to request that when they are named and get a birth certificate at the hospital?

As an unmarried woman, you may select to have your child bear your last name, in most cases. But, it may cause you probems proving paternity, if you later need to sue for support.

Good luck
